Therapeutic Optometrist
Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Miami, Florida, Dr. David Jacobson is a distinguished optometrist with a unique journey. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Florida before obtaining his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1979 from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Jacobson's training included an impactful research project on contact lenses and binocular vision at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, which led to a published study. With a wealth of clinical experience gained from a prominent ophthalmology group in Houston, he later joined the faculty of the University of Houston College of Optometry as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Dr. Jacobson has dedicated his career to private practice, combining it with a fulfilling teaching role.
A devoted member of professional organizations such as the Harris County Optometric Society, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association, he also contributes to the Eye Care for Kids Foundation, providing essential eye care to underprivileged local children.
Dr. Jacobson actively engages with his community, participating in various organizations, including the Bellaire-SW Chamber of Commerce and Midtown Business Network. He has held leadership positions in B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation and Young Israel of Houston synagogue, while also serving on the board of directors for multiple community organizations.
Residing in southwest Houston, Dr. Jacobson and his wife, Suzanne, share a loving marriage of 28 years and are proud parents to their three children, Sara, Rachel, and Noah.
