Look Around Humble, TX
Located in Harris County, Humble is a part of the Houston metropolitan area. This tranquil city dates back to the early 1800s, when it was named after one of the original settlers, Pleasant Smith “Plez” Humble. His claim to fame was founder of the first local post office. Nowadays, the charming and appropriate motto of Humble, TX, is “where people make a difference!”
Gaze at Nature
The oil industry picked up the pace of life in Humble and definitely transformed it into a livelier commercial zone. Nevertheless, our city maintained its peaceful personality. There are many nature reserves, most notably the Jesse H. Jones Park, a scenic woodland that is perfect for a family outing. To view beautiful gardens and flowers, head to Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, where you can take a self-guided walk or join a group touring through this 300-acre landscape. If animals are more your thing than plants, hop on a train or ride a pony at Old MacDonald’s Farm. Kids and adults can also feed the furry, friendly animals at this petting zoo.
Educate Yourself in Humble, TX
The Humble Museum displays the past of our peaceful city through donated artifacts that tell interesting tales. You’ll learn about the heritage of oil, lumber, cattle, churches, and the daily lives of Humble’s early residents. (Entrance is free!) For another unique educational experience, we recommend visiting the Houston Waterworks, where you can learn all about how cities deal with waste, recycling and clean water.
